Session Topics

How's your work with your CEREC, and what's the software you use?

This session will review and discuss all of the important difference and features from the old versions to the new 4.6 software.

We will also show you the secret tips you can apply in your own practice with any software you like!

-Speaker: Dr. David Shu

The application of zirconia in dental prosthesis has a very important role in modern dentistry, but the low transmittance and poor color performance of zirconia ceramic crowns can only be applied to the posterior teeth or making framework.

The development of the third generation of zirconia today makes the opportunity to apply a single layer of zirconia to the anterior teeth is no longer an impossible task.

On the『3rd CEREC Ultimate Experience』, we will introduce you to the third-generation zirconia and its clinical application and case presentation in CEREC. You will learn about the powerful capabilities of this material and how it will help you break through the current dilemma of chair-side CAD/CAM restoration.

-Speakers: Dr. Jason Ho & CDT Licita Yeh

It is always handy for the masters using CAD/CAM; the same workflow may not be able to get the same result after actually using it.

What kind of links does the devil hide in the seemingly glamorous black technology?

We will from preparing, scan, to occlusion adjustment and polishing to view the details that are easily ignored throughout the treatment.

-Speaker:  Dr. Brain Lee

Did this ever happen to you: after using the CAD/CAM system, the final result just didn’t always look as nice as it should be.

Maybe even worse: sometimes the restoration still got some problems before or after delivery.

Suddenly, you lost your faith in cadcam dentistry, realizing that everything wasn’t as perfect as you thought before?

According to some studies and experiences, these problems may be highly related to your tooth preparation.

So in 2018 CEREC Ultimate Experience session A-2, we will talk about one thing only: preparation.

We will disclose the concepts of preparation in CAD/CAM dentistry that you should bear in mind in every practice. After knowing the principles, we will then talk about how to achieve those criteria in several easy steps. And lastly, what kind of weapon you should get in your hand.

-Speaker:  Dr. Will Kung

You will learn:

  1. How the preparation affects your restoration quality.
  2. Preparation sequence, tips and tools.
  3. Clinical operative details of rotary cutting instrument.
  4. Preparation guideline for CAD/CAM restoration.
  5. SOP in tooth preparation, including anterior & posterior crowns, in/onlays, and veneers.

Do you think completing 20 restorations one day is an amazing feat?
All on 4—Now you can do it on just one day!!!!!

In the CEREC world, full mouth natural dentition rehabilitation in one day is already as a daily work of some CEREC users.

What about the dental implant treatment application?

Due to the biological factors, such as: soft tissue healing and implant - bone osseointegration, it is more challenging to complete the full-month implants reconstruction within one day.

Under the philosophy of chairside and in office, if the patients and indications are carefully selected, the goal to immediately load with durable provisional prosthesis by integrating CBCT/Galileos Implant /CEREC/InLab/Intraoral welding technique in full-month implants reconstruction treatment is achievable.

This session is designed for CEREC users, or someone who is interested it. This presentation focuses on how to integrate the software and hardware of CEREC system to assist the virtual planning and surgery of full-mouth implant rehabilitation treatment. Meanwhile cooperation with intraoral welding technique, a chairside durable provisional denture manufacture is practicable. This is the ultimate challenge for CEREC users in implant applications. It is worth listening to our experience sharing.

-Speaker:  Dr. Ethan Huang

Nowadays in Taiwan,  digital dentistry is going viral! More and more dentist and dental technicians invest themselves in the field of digital dentistry, and having an intraoral scanner is the first to make. With this weapon in hand, what else can we dentist achieve besides making ceramic crowns?

We all know that, as a dentist, we have the obligation to go through teeth condition and teeth position to make sure they're all ideal before doing the prosthesis. For the teeth condition, we have to eliminate caries, periodontal disease and endodontic problems; for teeth position, this is where orthodontics should get involved. Except from performing orthodontic treatment using named brands, with a digital orthodontic planning software, a 3D printer and a suck-down machine, we dentists are capable of performing orthodontic treatment using in-office clear aligner! And by doing so, patients may have better treatment experience and have greater faith in your treatment!

-Speaker:  Dr. Nicole Yeh

The diagnostic tooth shape design is indispensable when making multiple anterior teeth at a time.

This design has undergone a long history, from hand-made diagnostic wax shape, flat digital smile design (DSD), to modern digital processing, and the software-designed 3-D appearance is presented by a grinder or 3D printer.

But from this diagnostic tooth shape to the final prosthesis, there is a small gap: whether using wax-up or digital wax-up, we always must worry about how to "completely copy" our diagnostic tooth shape to the formal prosthesis?

Now we have done it.

We took advantage of CEREC's STL output, and merged two major technician design software, Exocad and inlab, to complement each other and create a new all-digital process that can be used without the need for 3D printing models and without mocking up to the patient's mouth, but the digital model is used directly to diagnose the tooth shape, and the main mold obtained by the intraoral scanner is integrated to replicate the final prosthesis.

How to do it in the end?

December 14-16

We will take you step by step through the history of "diagnostic wax shape"

I know that you want to come, don't be absent!

-Speakers:  CDT Joanna Lin & CDT Sally Hsien

Since time immemorial, various articulators have been invented to simulate human jaw movements.
The purpose is to perfectly transfer the various movements in the patient's mouth, and reduce clinical adjustment when delivering prosthesis.

However, due to the complexity of the TMJ, these methods are not too complicated to apply to each patient, or the simplification caused by oversimplification can only be an estimate.

Thanks to the advancement of technology, the digital workflow can be combined with the mandibular tracing device to achieve the real mobile import, in addition to reducing many complicated processes.

Has this technology matured now?
Has it really achieved perfect tracking? Let us have a look!

-Speaker: Dr. Lucky Li

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the concept of occlusion design
2. Understand the types and differences of traditional articulators
3. Recognize the digital articulator in the CEREC software
4. Know the SICAT Function mandibular tracing device
5. In an actual case, discuss the difference between using the average value, SICAT Function to get the value into the digital articulator, and directly using the SICAT Function to integrate the CEREC software design.

One of the most common reponses that we get when we're speaking abroad is "Wow!" followed by "But how!". We understand that dentists are naturally curious, but due to time and hardware limitations, most of the time we have grab and maintain the audience's attention very quickly. This often means more show and less tell.

No more. For this year's CEREC Ultimate Experience III, our programs have been redesigned for both the uninitiated and the experienced. Instead of focusing on what is possible, we will discuss the theory and the methodology.

In this session, I will be talking specifically about all the most common clinical problems we get as practitioners of digital dentistry, and how we can learn to avoid and, in some cases, overcome them.

-Speaker: Dr. Hsuan Chen
